Fishery report 24th
May 2010
The transition
from the ridiculous to the sublime has
shown itself in an upsurge in rods and
a very satisfying improvement in
catch. The bitter north-easterlies of
recent weeks did nothing for the
comfort of those brave souls who
ventured in their attempt to catch
fish that were reluctant to accept the
temptations put before them. The
change to the glorious warm sunshine
has produced a marked increase in
insect life and an eagerness for the
fish to feed.
As to the choice
of fly, the cold conditions and the
cloudless skies favoured gold heads on
intermediate lines whereas cloud cover
and warmer winds brought out the
floaters and dry flies. Only the
brownies continue to offer a greater
challenge and need patience to be
enticed out of hiding.
